IKO – 50 Years of Successful Endeavours
In 1951 IKO was founded in Alberta, Canada, as a manufacturer of asphalt saturated kraft paper for the building industry. Roofing shingles were added to the product range in 1954, and this quickly developed a strong following in house building.
Progressive expansion in Canada was accompanied by the opening of IKO’s first plant in Europe in 1972, at Ham, Belgium, and first plant in the United States in 1979, at Wilmington, Delaware.
IKO’s founding principles are as relevant in the 21st century as they were at the outset, with the business continuing its successful growth into the third generation.
