Damp proof courses (DPCs) provide waterproofing protection to walls. They are necessary at many locations in a building to protect critical parts of the structure and the internal environment. DPCs are flexible sheets of plastic, bitumen or composites which prevent liquid water passing from one part of a wall to another. They ensure a continuous barrier against the ingress of water between one part of a construction and another and deflect water to the exterior of the building where it can safely drain away.
- Resist damp penetration from below
- Discharge water from above
- Resist horizontal water penetration (eg at window jambs)
Used in either linear or cavity tray situations, DPCs should be designed in conjunction with flashings and damp proof membranes in order to provide a continuous waterproof barrier. Our Damp Proof Systems portfolio offers the specifier the convenience of sourcing a total high performance DPC and DPM package from a single source. The DPC range includes a choice of products as well as pre-formed cloaks. For more details on the DPM range please see the relevant product pages on this website. Our offer also includes a range of gas resistant barrier products which as well as providing damp proofing properties are designed to resist Methane, Radon and Cardon Dioxide. See the relevant product pages on this website for more information. |
